Sibling Love- This is what it looks like. He is finally comfortable enough to want to "help" and she is so excited that he is paying attention to her. Our son is on the Autism spectrum and that means anything "new" can have a BIG effect on him. It has taken him a little while to be comfortable with his little sister. He's been captivated by her since we brought her home... but always from a distance. Now that she is almost a year old and mobile, he can't keep his distance anymore! Watching him care for and love her warms this Momma's heart. And while there is nothing technically great about this picture, the smiles and love between the two of them makes this picture priceless to me.

3/365- Dogs
Lulu and Coco... standing watch (and hoping she'll "share"). This weekend we celebrate Lulu's 7th year with us. Although they sometimes make us crazy, I can't imagine our family without them. 2/365
Amelia has discovered her brother's Amazon Fire. I find it amazing how quickly my kids have figured out electronics. She likes to "play" the games that make lots of noise. Let me be perfectly honest- I'm not sure I can handle this project 365. I'm overwhelmed by just the thought of it! For one, how the heck am I going to have the time to post everyday?
With two small children (one who is on the Autism Spectrum), three dogs, a husband, and a house that is usually a disaster or being destroyed by the dogs and kids I think I may have officially lost my mind. But you never really know until you try. So the next 365 days will be us... the real us, documented. Here it goes... 1/365 Their favorite part of the day, bath time. I had a fun afternoon with the Villa family at Woodward Park in Fresno. This year we were much luckier with weather and didn't have to hurry it along because we were freezing! We found the perfect spot that had beautiful fall foliage and also a tree for the kids to climb. I always have a great time with this family and love to be able to watch the kids grow over the years. Returning clients are the best compliment that I can get!
For as long as I can remember holidays have meant going to Grandma and Grandpa Rodriguez's house. They live at the base of the foothills leading to Sequoia National Park. I've always loved it at their house. As a child, my sisters, cousins and I played in the plum orchard and orange groves; we looked for treasure among the rocks by the railroad tracks; drove the beloved "Tug" tractor for fun; and drew our houses in the dirt between our Grandparent's house and our Grandfathers woodworking shed. It is a happy place full of memories and I am so happy to see a new generation enjoying it. My children now run and play with their cousins. And although some of the views have changed, the love is there... just as it always has been.
My business has been a little on the quiet side this year. Truth is I've been focusing on being a Momma. Our boy turned 4 last weekend... four! And our little Bean is already 8 months old. This year has flown by and most of it has been about family time.
I love my job as a photographer, but there are times when I know I need to take a step back from it and spend some time on my own family. The other night I grabbed my camera and had a lifestyle mini-session with my husband and kids. Nothing fancy, just all of them hanging out in our backyard with the dogs. Real life- bare feet, messy hair, play clothes and relaxed fun. Another beautiful event by Laura Ferrick of Eclectic Affairs! The Historic Millerton Courthouse at Millerton Lake was a gorgeous backdrop for a relaxed wedding and reception.
A beautiful service blending together two families. The bride sang to her groom as a surprise to him as she walked down the aisle. The pair of them teased and kidded each other through the evening and old friends became husband and wife, making their two families into one. Thank you to Krista and Danny for allowing me to capture your love and this very special day. Congratulations!
This session is incredibly personal and I am just bursting to share it! This last Mother's Day my husband and I got a wonderful gift and surprise... We found out that we would soon be Grandparents! When my step-son and daughter-in-law told us we were ecstatic... little did we know that we would soon be sharing some similar news with them a couple of months later. Yes, we found out that I am also expecting. Much like a made for t.v. movie I will have not only a new grandson but also a daughter born within a month of each other. I made Alicia promise to have maternity pictures taken- even if it wasn't by me (they live in Los Angeles). I think it's such an amazing time in one's life, and you really need to make sure to have pictures that you can look back on and share with your kids. When they came to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with us we went out and shot these. I will be forever grateful that I got to share this time with the two of them. And I can't wait to meet their little boy! "Being a parent means loving your children more than you've ever loved yourself."
