August was an especially wonderful and proud month. Our oldest married his college sweetheart in a beautiful ceremony (and his Dad officiated!) in Irvine, Ca. During the ceremony a special emphasis was put on family, flowers were given to the father of the bride, mother of the groom, and me the stepmother of the groom. Such an amazing feeling to be part of the family that I have. I was so blessed that when I married my husband in 2010 that our boys (technically his sons) welcomed me into the family with open arms. I am also so thankful that they put up with me constantly photographing our lives together. I was a guest at the wedding, but that didn't stop me from snapping away to capture the day from my point of view. And it was a beautiful day! Congratulations to David and Alicia!!

This little guy is what makes my life wonderful. This was him at 6 months and was when I "officially" decided to leave my job (no more maternity leave!). I get to watch this guy grow everyday... all the new amazing things that he learns, every babble, every toddle and quite a bit of mischief! Some days I think I may lose my mind, but I know that we will get through it and I will always be thankful that I was here to see it all.
On a side note to all the Mom's out there- take lots of pictures of your kids! You think you will remember, but you won't. I love that I got a picture of the footies of his pj's (they were my favorite at the time). I honestly don't know how bloggers find the time to post everyday. Especially the Mommy bloggers out there! Where do you find the time? My little one is too aware of the fact that Momma has slipped away into the office and is focused on something else.
I've decided to take a look back at the year 2012 and all that has happened. This is the year that I took a big leap and decided to quit my job of ten years to be a full time Mom and focus a little more on getting my photography business off the ground. It's been a wonderful year! So I've decided to take a glimpse back at all that has happened this year and do a "year in review" in pictures over the next few weeks (in no particular order). When I came up with the "Wonderful Life" theme for the next few weeks of posts I knew that the first entry would have to be about something truly amazing, the birth of my nephew Jaxson William. I was up with my sister and her husband all night waiting for the little guy to arrive and when he did it was awesome. I am forever grateful that my sister and brother-in-law allowed me to share that very speial moment of their lives with them (and let me take pictures of everything too!) |
AuthorHi, I'm Melissa. I am a wife, mother, step-mother, Gigi (step-grandma) and a photographer. I started out as the family member always asked to bring my camera along and it has turned into my life dream. I just love being able to capture moments for others that they can always cherish. This is my little corner to share my sessions, projects, and a little piece of our daily life. Thanks for stopping by! Archives
