For as long as I can remember holidays have meant going to Grandma and Grandpa Rodriguez's house. They live at the base of the foothills leading to Sequoia National Park. I've always loved it at their house. As a child, my sisters, cousins and I played in the plum orchard and orange groves; we looked for treasure among the rocks by the railroad tracks; drove the beloved "Tug" tractor for fun; and drew our houses in the dirt between our Grandparent's house and our Grandfathers woodworking shed. It is a happy place full of memories and I am so happy to see a new generation enjoying it. My children now run and play with their cousins. And although some of the views have changed, the love is there... just as it always has been.

My business has been a little on the quiet side this year. Truth is I've been focusing on being a Momma. Our boy turned 4 last weekend... four! And our little Bean is already 8 months old. This year has flown by and most of it has been about family time.
I love my job as a photographer, but there are times when I know I need to take a step back from it and spend some time on my own family. The other night I grabbed my camera and had a lifestyle mini-session with my husband and kids. Nothing fancy, just all of them hanging out in our backyard with the dogs. Real life- bare feet, messy hair, play clothes and relaxed fun. My husband is a teacher, so we are all a bit sad when summer vacation comes to an end. However, I love the images that I get each year as we put his classroom back in order. I get to see how much my munchkin (now munchkins!) have grown. For instance, I remember when Eric was crawling between the desk rows. This year with our new addition (baby Amelia) we start all over again. And it just so happened that she chose to roll over for the very first time in her Daddy's classroom. Thank goodness I grabbed my camera before we left home!
Amelia is already six months old and trying her first food! In keeping with my promise to myself to document our everyday moments (and make sure that I am included in some of the pictures), here is our little one getting her first taste of peaches and rice cereal. Don't forget to document your everyday moments too!
XO- Melissa She's here! She's here! Our beautiful daughter is finally here! Weighing in at 7 pounds and 3 ounces and measuring at 20 inches she is a little piece of perfection. I spent my few days in the hospital taking lots of pictures (and even setting up the timer so I could be in some as well).
I am taking my time to heal from surgery, but will be back to work in April after the doctor clears me for duty. Until then I am going to soak up the love with my hubby and our littles and enjoy time focusing on our family. |
AuthorHi, I'm Melissa. I am a wife, mother, step-mother, Gigi (step-grandma) and a photographer. I started out as the family member always asked to bring my camera along and it has turned into my life dream. I just love being able to capture moments for others that they can always cherish. This is my little corner to share my sessions, projects, and a little piece of our daily life. Thanks for stopping by! Archives
