We live in central California's San Joaquin Valley. And for those of you that have not visited our fair state and only think of blondes, beaches and movie stars when you hear the word "California" nothing could be further than the truth! We are surrounded by farmland here in Kerman and it gets awfully hot in the summertime! However, the beauty of living in the central valley is that you are only a couple hours away from the beach or the mountains and on said hot days we tend to escape it by taking a little day trip.
We left what was supposed to be a day of unbearable heat (107 degrees) and headed to Cayucos where the expected high for the day was to be a beautiful 66! As soon as our two year old saw the ocean he was a happy kid. We didn't even get a chance to put his swim trunks on! He just ran for the ocean and was knee deep before I could do a thing about it. I was a little bummed that the pier was closed for renovations (I guess we'll have to make another trip to get pictures on the pier!) but we had loads of fun splashing in the water.
